US HOT 100 SUMMARY & REVIEW 26.11.24 #9

THE TOP 10:

At 10, 'Love Somebody' by Morgan Wallen stays put; also staying put at 9 is 'Beautiful Things' by Benson Boone. 'Taste' sticks at 8 for Sabrina, and 'I Had Some Help' is still at 7 for Post Malone and Morgan Wallen! 'That's So True' remains at 6 for Gracie Abrams, and 'Espresso' by Sabrina Carpenter dips a spot to 5. 'Lose Control' spends its 67th charting week up a spot to 4 for Teddy Swims. 'Birds Of A Feather' lands Billie Eilish another week at 3, just above that 'Die With A Smile' stabilises for Gaga and Mars, and grabbing his 19th week atop the billboard Hot 100 And 32nd week charting is 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' by Shaboozey, which becomes the joint longest running US no. 1 in the charts 66-year history. If he gets next week's no. 1, he'll pass 'Old Town Road' by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus to become the first ever song to get 20 weeks no. 1 and to break the tie!

NEW ENTRYS:

97 - Neon Moon - Brooks And Dunn/Morgan Wallen (6.5/10)

'Neon Moon' is a heartbreak country song that is a new version of the 1992 song 'Neon Moon' by Brooks & Dunn. Morgan's atmosphere intertwines with BAD (Brooks & Dunn) nicely, and they both complement each other's vocals. The piano and guitar fit well into the backing structure for the song and add to the traditional country vibe. It's raspy, has character, and as a fan of Morgan Wallen, this team-up does not disappoint!

96: Dejame Entrar - Rauw Alejandro (5/10)

88: Revolu - Rauw Alejandro/Feid (5/10)

82- Se Fue - Rauw Alejandro/Laura Pausini (6/10)

71: Good News: Shaboozey (7/10)

Previous first listen:

Love to see a more chilled take from Shaboozey while managing to keep a groove that
Its stuck in your brain. Shaboozey continues his country songs while adding the amount of time he spends singing a pitch and the way he sings the chorus to really make a noteable difference on this song! The delivery and the emotional touch on the song make this good for any occasion! Really good song!

69, Tu Con El - Rauw Alejandro (6.5/10)

68 AGATS2 (Insecure) - Juice WRLD/Nicki Minaj (5.5/10)

Previous first listen:

I felt Nicki was cut out more and they could've bonded better, and also that the beat sounded like a quick mix rather than taking the time into the track; it's still not bad though.

Previous second listen:

'AGATS2' has backing vocals from Halsey, which add to the song, and the emo side with Nicki Minaj really shows Juice's stronger sides, although this feels like it doesn't show something new or something that brings in new listeners. Juice has 1000s of unreleased songs; his record label could have chosen better.

Added:

Yeah, once again, I just have the same view on this.

60 - Khe? - Rauw Alejandro/Romeo Santos (6/10)

56: Insecurities - Lil Baby (5/10)

Previous first listen:

Despite me having my daily dose of autotuned rap rubbish, this is actually decent, surprisingly!! I think the actual sound and the fact that it didn't use the 'boom bap' beat saved the song. What a weird surprise. You get the pass this time, Lil Baby, but this still isn't good.

53: Running Wild - Jin (4/10)

Previous first listen:

Jin poorly attempts to try and create a song that he thinks will be a western hit; on certain lines he sounds like he's nervous and gives the completely wrong energy. This K pop-rock single is produced by Gary Barlow; I personally don't get how Gary could produce something so Bar-low quality. They add unnecessary autotune to Jin's voice that doesn't even mend the track!
Added:

Every time I listen to this with the music video, I can't help but think, "How can people actually like this?"

41 - 2 Hands - Tate Mcrae (5/10)

Previous first listen:

This wasn't bad, but it didn't have the infectious mood that 'It's ok, I'm ok' gave; instead, it fell flat and felt like a weak second song announcement for her upcoming album, which was announced to come out on February 21st, 2025, called 'So close to what,' but '2 Hands' has a beat very similar throughout and lacks the fun, pop era. This is supposed to be bouncy and fun but comes across in a tired way. I don't have much for this; accept that it needs a boost and that this isn't it. It's plain and boring.

34 - Que Pasaria... - Rauw Alejandro/Bad Bunny (5/10)

Previous first listen:

'Que Pasaria...' features on Rauw's new album and is a Spanish pop song with Bad Bunny. This for me isn't memorable, but I respect how they are not continuing along the traditional reggaeton and Latin routes that get boring and instead aim for something new; instead, they give their song a pulse that goes outside of the genre's roots.

RE ENTRYS:

74. The Emptiness Machine - Linkin Park
[Love this! Highlight of 2024]

48: A Holly Jolly Christmas—Burl Ives

47: It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year -  Andy Williams

The whole top 100:

BEST: 'The Door' - Teddy Swims
WORST: 'No One Noticed' - The Marias

NEXT WEEKS PREDICTIONS:

Apart from the yearly top 10 Christmas flood (which might not actually happen next week), we have Kendrick Lamar's surprise album drop, 'Gnx,' which has 12 tracks that seem to be getting a buzz right now. I suspect that next week it'll be a tight race to see if Christmas songs will go top 10 or if Shaboozey can even hold no. 1 ('Die With A Smile' is close to catching that song to).

Apart from that, Wizkid has a new album, which could possibly see some new entries. Also, a few foreign artists, such as Manuel Torizo and Quevedo, have dropped albums, which could also possibly make an entry.

For the singles releases, expect Ariane Grande, Rosé, Jack Harlow, and possibly Lil Nas X, Tyla, and Jelly Roll (if he's lucky).

EXTRA:

Sometimes I may skip songs if there is part of a charting album that has a few tracks in the top 100. (Instead, I'll cover the highest chatting entry from the album, or if there's a super high, then the highest.)

Peace ✌️
