i'm a day late and a dollar short as usual but how about we sing happy birthday to that american legend woody guthrie on his 100th (if he would've lived)

personally, i havent heard much of Guthrie's material,
but i love covers of his songs by Billy Bragg/Wilco, Springsteen,Dylan,Neil Young etc....

a great poet IMO, up there with the likes of Dylan and NY who he influenced so much

he was the "father of folk/protest" music....
inspired Bob Dylan a hellof a lot, also Springsteen,Neil Young,Wilco,Tom Petty,Billy Bragg....the list just goes on and on man!!!!!

Woody experienced the dire poverty of the Depression first hand and also fought for the migrant workers. Since he was a protest singer he faced a lot of ridicule at the time and physical abuse. The Americana music legend !!!!!
