pure fluke SteveO....
i had to go to the airport to pick someone up(maybe my parents?) and i knew Elvis would be coming in that day also for his gig the next day so i grabbed one of my vinyls and took it with me on the off chance he may be there at that particular time...
and low and behold while i was waiting for my parents i was keeping an eye out on the arrivals lounge, anyway, sure enough this guy came through who i thought looked like Elvis Costello...
i hesitated until i was sure it was him...
then, because no-one else went up to him i thought either m the only one who recognises him or its not him...
i got up and followed him out to the terminal carpark and a limo pulled up, i thought, thats gotta be him so i got close enough and called out "hey,Elvis"...and he turned around and looked over the top of his sunglasses...
i just asked him something like "hey man, love your music, going to your show tomorrow, been a longtime fan so would you mind signing my album"
from memory he said something like..."sure thing" and "whats your favourite album"...
i blurted out something stupid like "love over gold"...obviously he meant whats your favourite album of mine then he replied "i cant recall making one with that title"....
man, i was so embarrassed,
as he got in his car he said somehting like..."hope you enjoy the gig"
end of story.
