Mike Oldfield has confirmed details about his new album.
the album will be released on January 20th on the Virgin label.
A sequel to the 1975 album Ommadawn, this new record was written, recorded, produced at Oldfield's
home studio in Nassau.
it contains two parts, Ommadawn pt 1 and 2.
Oldfield describes it as "handmade" and includes twenty two instruments including mandolin, guitars,
acoustic bass, bodhran, African drums and tin whistle.
Oldfield says "looking on social media I see that everybodys favourite albums seem to be the first three,
those that are over forty years old, and Ommadawn even moreso than Tubular Bells, I think that is because it
a genuine piece of music as opposed to a production; hands, fingers, fingernails, I didn't have a goal, I was not
trying to please anyone other than myself, it was spontaneous music making, full of life.
so I think a "return to ommadawn" is also a return to my true self"
