Pentatonix "a pentatonix Christmas"
Spotify listen:
fourth album from this Texan a-cappella group....
obviously as the title suggests, it is a yuletide album...
about half is traditional Christmas tunes, the other half
were written by the likes of Kanye, Justin Timberlake and Leonard Cohen (to name a few),
I know Christmas songs and their welcome are short lived and can really only be
played for a couple of weeks a year before theyre obsolete for another twelve months
but this one isn't too bad...
they do a pretty good version of Cohen's "hallelujah" on here, but then again, I have
not heard a bad version of that song (Jeff Buckley's version is my all time fave BTW)...
they do put a twist on some of the tracks, opening track being the one that comes to mind,
"o come all ye faithful" where from out of nowhere comes the sound of what i'd call
African tribal chants (like the sort on Paul Simon's "graceland" album.)...
ive actually put this one on my to purchase list, but only if I happen to see it in a store
because it will fit nicely alongside my Boney M and Presley Christmas albums in the lead up to Christmas.
