Deezer listen:
his twenty-first studio album and second covers set...
this time round he is exploring the songs of his youth from the 'great american soul book'...
nothing really fails on this album but the standouts for me being a 'soul fan' seem to be the lesser known tracks, and i dont mean little known tracks but tracks that just dont get airplay or are generally not 'a-lister' r+b/soul classics but fans of the genre will definitely be familiar with all of the tracks...
no E-Street Band here but the horn section of his regular live band appear...
a album of pleasant covers with nothing overtly cringeworthy nor exceptionally great just a steady enjoyable album of The Boss paying respect to the songs he loved and obviously still hold a place in his heart...
on the to purchase list.
standouts:
"soul days" (featuring Sam Moore) (1) Soul Days - YouTube
"the sun aint gonna shine anymore" (1) The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore - YouTube
"i wish it would rain" (1) I Wish It Would Rain - YouTube
and the latest single (no video just audio but the video is coming soon)
