Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary

nice article Gryphon!
there are only five places i'd like to go if i could time travel...and being at The Cavern for the start of the whole Beatle thing is one of them!
the others.....?
1. being a teenager in the US in 1955-58
2. woodstock
3. being at the "100 Club" in London for the 1976 Punk explosion
4. witnessing the birth of Christ

I too would love to time travel back there and see them
I did come across something that made me think...........For many years I was involved in the record collecting scene.............I used to go to fairs and had quite a few friends who were dealers............I used to go in the early days of collecting and I got to know quite a few dealers interested in the Beatles ( its one of the ways I became so obsessed !) During this time I got to know one dealer who ran a record collectors show on Radio WM in the UK.) He and I used to meet up and look at the Beatles material o0n the big fairs like the one in the NEC in Birmingham.................After a while we got agood feel for what was avaliable and what was genuine and what not. We also go to see and handle many rare things ...........................
One time at the NEC I came to see my friend quite early on in the morning on a big two day fair................we had a coffee and a chat and then we went to look at a few Beatle related items ( Between the two of us we used to belive that we could spot the genuine from fake and we would buy and see a few things together)...........We can't have been bad because other dealers would come to us for opinions!!!
We were asked to join the organizer of the fair for a beer a bit later and to give him an opinion!
So in we went and sat with a beer or two and in came this rather well dressed man with a brief case . We sat and chatted for a bit and then asked what did they want us to look at ?
THe case was opened and out was taken a 7 inch single.............R4949 with a red Parlophone label. He held it A side up and it was autographed..............all four Beatles and we believed them genuine.........................!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then he said flip it over ........we did and on the B side was another autograph..............Pete Best ! Now those are rare so if it was genuine was harder to tell.................but his story fitted.........he was a Cavern dweller ( Member ) he had seen the Beatles many times in the early days and knew then ..............John , Paul, George, Stu, Pete and even John Duff Lowe..etc
He said that he had gone into NEMS and bought this and got it autographed in the Cavern all four and the he had worked on Pete for time to sign.........Eventually to shut him up and ignorant of the A side he signed .................................He asked what we though he would get for it ..........
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
