Okay, you are going to create your greatest all-star band... You can have up to seven members in your all-star band... now tell us who they are, and give at least one reason why! You can select from any musicians living or deceased. Additional credit will be given for multiple reasons for a selection, like McCartney because he is a great Bass player, song writer, and is a multi-instrumentalist.

i'll take:
Paul McCartney....for the reasons you mentioned Gater...paul would be my bassist/vocalist
Steve Marriott....writer,vocalist,guitarist...as visionary as Lennon/McCartney(checl out his "ogdens not gone flake" album with Small Faces) but never had the backing nor producer to see his visions come to full fruition, was also Jimmy Page's #1 choice to lead LedZep but was too busy setting up Humblepie...Steve would be rythm guitarist/vocalist
Steve White....classy drummer highly profficient in jazz,blues,rock,pop etc etc
Eric Clapton...not a huge fan of 'ole slow hand' but he can sure play some great licks on lead guitar...my pick as lead guitarist
Mick Talbot...clasically trained pianist/keyboardist, but again, profficient in all styles of ivory tinkling, and i love his work with the Hammond Organ.
i didnt pick these guys because they are the "best of the best" but they are very good musicians, and i tried to fit them together because of their admiration for one another and their influence on eachother......as a band needs to gel not only as muso's but also as people IMO to survive

Lead Vocals: Bob Dylan.....I believe even though he is no boy soprano Bob has tremendous technique . He knows how to deliver and time vocals and is not afraid to let it rip when it needs it. Add to this his persona and I think you ave all the ingredients of an excellent and charismatic front man
Lead Guitar George Harrison, Whatever is written about guitarists George is one of he Greats , he has so much skill, is great writer of guitar solos and parts , he plays so well and so appropriately. He can fit in with many different musicians and his experience is wide.
Keyboards Keith Emerson......There are several reasons why Keith would be the choice here, he is an excellent keyboard player with proven talent, He has a wide range of style and experience and he is a great showman.
Drums Alan White This guy has a great feel for the drums and is not just a a driver . He can be he anchor man or he can play the drums as a full instrument beyond just being a timing device.
Bass JJ Cale Gonna use Bob Dylans approach of putting a musician on a different instrument here: Cale is a great musician and as such he can play and it does not matter what. I feel he would give my band something extra here by responding to the challenge of playing out of formation .
Backing vocals/additional guitar parts : David Crosby he has the greatest ability to harmonise and is good with the acoustic! Nuff said!

name of the Band - TIME ZONE
Lead Vocals: Beth Hart -She's an amazing vocalist who can sing blues and hard rock with the best of them !
Lead guitar: Jimmy Page - Leader of one of the greatest bands in history, innovative guitarist who is proficient acoustically and electrically !
Bass guitar: - Stanley Clarke - Mr. Bass himself, reknown jazz bassist, cream of the crop.
Drums:- Carl Palmer - incredible powerhouse drummer, his long drum solos show off his imagination and technique with Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Keyboards: - Jon Lord - Deep Purple keyboard man with incredible virtuosity especially on organ as illustrated in live concerts.
*Footnote: I was tempted to recite the entire Beatle lineup but Paul and George had already been mentioned so I was striving for originality in my choices.
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

Crazy, you are my hero! I just bought Marriott's "Marriott" solo album, the one where half the songs are with the Brit musicians and the other with American West Coasters. We were talking about how overlooked he is as a lead player. Of course after getting out from Frampton's shadow, he really began to shine! The others are very fine choices as well. Now imagine what they could come up with as a unit... it's mind boggling!

John Lord is a great choice as both player and writer. I have always loved his "Butterfly Ball..." soundtrack/album, especially how he had the artisits on that album performing outside their comfort zones... some well outside, like Dio's ballad at the end.

Marriott has to be the most underrated/under appreciated genius to emerge from the UK during the 1960s IMO
