okay so i know Steely Dan had twice the output of Boston but both artists made some incredible material.
i would probably pick Steely Dan from what i know of both band's

What is the criteria for the either/or's? These are two completely different sounds, to me so I don't see how one can compare them?? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

no criteria Ruby,
just a bit of fun,
nothing too deep or intricate involved in it.
would you have preferred Chicago v Boston, or Eagles v Steely Dan???

^No - no preference one way or the other - I was just curious as to why the two were being compared. Doesn't matter - as you say ... my apologies for being pedantic! For the record - Steely Dan is incomparable, IMHO, but I wouldn't be able to choose between the Eagles and SD as an absolute, as there's a lot I like about them both.

and i certainly wouldnt have put either band up against Queen, Alice Cooper or Jethro Tull as theyre just too different.
