If I were to own a railroad, the above chord is what I would specify for the five-bell horns of my diesel trains. My steam locomotive whistles might have an e-flat diminished or e-flat diminished 7th, the e-flat being just above the mddle C as steam whistles should customarily be higher-pitched than the brawny diesels.

Most classic train whistles have the dark, eerie diminished chord tones or variations of them. Some early diesels had minor chords, which also sound somewhat spooky in the night.

I wanted to know what to specify to the custom train whistle builder as
far as tuning the device goes.

What would be the proper whistle notes for a steam river boat, speaking of navigable floating vessels?

This garden universe vibrates complete,
Some, we get a sound so sweet.
Vibrations, reach on up to become light,
And then through gamma, out of sight.
Between the eyes and ears there lie,
The sounds of color and the light of a sigh.
And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe,
But it's all around if we could but perceive.
To know ultra-violet, infra-red, and x-rays,
Beauty to find in so may ways.
Two notes of the chord, that's our poor scope,
And to reach the chord is our life's hope.
And to name the chord is important to some,
So they give it a word, and the word is OM.
