i cant split Kirk or Charlton Heston as big screen actors from that period, but CH's ideas about guns puts him down a few marks (President of the NRA)
Kirk's movies I loved were Gunfight At The OK Corral, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and obviously Spartacus...
not so keen on Michael Douglas though, I think hes a fine actor, its just his movies that bug me except for Falling Down.

Nothing wrong with his performance, but it really bugged me that they felt the need to get a big name US actor in for the role instead of an Australian.

I had totally forgotten he was in that one...
same thing with Ned Kelly, why the need to use Mick Jagger in it over an Australian, and anyway, at least get an actor, not a singer!

Happy Birthday to Colin Masson, who also goes by Carel de Winter for things artistic, and who is one of the best, yet unsung independent prog/crossover musos Iâve ever had the good fortune to accidentally stumble upon. IMHO, he deserves way more recognition.

âBorn in the late 50's in Germany of Anglo German parents. Emigrated to Britain in the late 60's, studied fine art and graphic design in Bristol in the 1980's, graduated in 1982 (I think).
First played as a replacement guitarist in a punk band at art school, when the original guitarist over-enthusiastically shredded his fingers. Was thrown out for wearing a woolly hat and knowing too many chords. Played for six months in Bristol based heavy metal band "Scavenger" as rhythm guitarist, was thrown out for daring to play a lead break. The singer left in sympathy. Played for about a year in a Gong style outfit called Gestallt; left when they morphed into a synth pop band. Co-founded a space-rock band called Elidor with Phil Eastabrook which lasted about a year, had some amazing rehearsals and played to an audience of sheep on Hay Bluff. Disbanded due to the stress caused by the rock and roll lifestyle.
Joined folk rock band The Morrigan in 1984 as lead guitarist, a post I occupy to this day. Here I met my wife to be and long time collaborator, Cathy Alexander. During this time have played hundreds of gigs, including Glastonbury festival, released 6 band albums and three solo albums, the latest being "The Southern Cross."
In 1988 I gave up graphic design because I hated it, and became a gardener. I now live in the south of England and as well as music, produce Sci-fi and fantasy artwork.â

She has an amazing voice. I hope one day to see her live performance.

for those who don't know, most of his work is instrumental but I really like it ans I don't like many instrumental artists, except Knopfler,

Billy Gibbons was born on this day in 1949 in Houston, Texas. Heâs the founder, lead guitarist and vocalist of ZZ Top, and his is the reddest of the beards leaving very little doubt about the probability of his Viking ancestry.
ZZ Top is hailed as the quintessential blues rock band and itâs unlikely that anyone whoâs remotely interested in music would not have heard them at some point. Their dress code and all that facial hair is pretty iconic, and there is no question about their technical proficiency.
Mr Gibbons branched out, and he and the BFGâs released a 'solo' album at the end of last year which I just listened to, titled Perfectamundo. He went a bit nuts on this one IMHO, but itâs highly entertaining for all that, very un-PC, and why should he care?? Thereâs a whole lot of Cuba, loads of autotune (which in this instance in probably a good thing, lol!), nods to the blues, of course, a bit of dated rap (also not a bad thing, the dated part, that is - at least you can understand what's being said), shedloads of other effects and a general party atmosphere. Sounds like he let every single strand of hair down and had himself a wonderful dirty time. What can I say? Not to be taken seriously, at all â¦.
