DIRE STRAITS "on every street" cd, 1991
a revisit...
their sixth and final album,
my sixth and final too...
their least successful album (and failure by their standards) only selling around 10 million copies...
a few signs of where Knopfler's musical muse was heading but still a typical album for them...
probably their least commercial sounding album though...
weakest track for me has always been the lead off single "calling elvis" and it is still...
album would rank fifth for me if i seriously ranked their studio albums but that said...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
this one stood out for me on this occasion.

^Very few missteps made by MK, in any of his guises. On balance, always a good listen IMHO.
Something I have not listened to in years ... just felt like it today. Side 2 in particular.
The Crusaders with B.B. King and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Royal Jam
Live album with a real energy about it. Good vibes ...

JETHRO TULL "the zealot gene" cd, 2022
their twenty-second studio album, my tenth...
their first in two decades and their highest UK charting album (#9) in fifty years...
a concept album with Anderson making comparisons between Bible stories and modern day life, for example the story of Sodom and Gomorrah with the way a lot of young people live their lives etc etc...
the songe still contain all the hallmarks of their classic style, its folky and rocky and the flute is still the band's weapon of choice...
album stands up well against their back catalogue IMO and comes in at 2.3 which is borderline like/love.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Today's pick - Elton and Bernie's tribute to Edith Piaf. From a time when songwriters could actually write songs and decent lyrics instead of the infantile crap we have to listen to today.

LIAM GALLAGHER "c'mon you know" vinyl, 2022
his third solo outing under his own name...
strange thing is that i found it easier to find the vinyl than the cd for some reason??...
soft rock to rock on here...
hearing lots of influences in the melodies and lyrics...
lead off single was co-written between Gallagher and Dave Grohl and even with Grohl it is the weakest thing on the album for me...
i guess the album wouldnt appeal to non- Gallagher/Oasis fans and i have no hesitation in saying so but im a fan..
not as good as his previous effort but still pretty bloody good IMO and rates an excellent 2.4 which means....
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
