^Very nice album. Iso is excxellent as well.
Shackletonâs Voyage by Eureka. The project Eureka comprises Frank Bossert on all instruments, and non-instruments, and a couple of guest artists on vocals, Billy Sherwood being one of them. Itâs a brilliant concept album, IMHO, inspired by Shackleton and his menâs heroic Antarctic voyage. How they kept it together during all that time in the ice and the cold is a mystery â sheer cussedness on Shackletonâs part, I should think. He just didnât give up! Interesting that his ship was called âEnduranceâ⦠In prog style and largely instrumental with some unobtrusive narration now and then, and about four vocal tracks, I find this music so effectively evocative that it is not at all difficult to imagine the scenes in the mindâs eye. A wonderful listening journey â This track is quite chilling â¦.

![]() THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT "the turn of a friendly card" cd, 1980 career stats: studio albums..............10 compilations................23 singles........................28 this album stats: #38 UK.....#10 CAN.....#13 US........#2 AU singles: "the turn of a friendly card pt.I"..................did not chart anywhere "games people play".................................#9 CAN......#16 US........#23 AU "time"...................................................#30 CAN......#15 US "snake eyes"............................................................#67 US a "swap" from Jerome for a few country discs I sent him.... the idea was to swap discs that we hadn't heard of or wouldn't necessarily purchase ourselves....good idea IMO, and it worked from my point of view. this is APP's fifth studio release, I do own "eye in the sky" on cd,but that's it,i like some of that one,not all of it but this one..... I love it, loved it the fist time I played it in my car....hell, I even like the two short instrumental tracks on it....they fit in with the album very well(not just add-ons to fill space) I did notice on the Wikipedia site that the title track was sixteen minutes long on the original vinyl version(split into five parts over the second side of the vinyl) on cd each part is a separate track, but that doesn't matter,it works for me.... I love the vocals from the three or four vocalists on here, love the textures of the music, love the balanced production,in fact, nothng really bad to say about the whole album... I do hear bits of Pink Floyd an ELO on this one in parts, but so what theyre from the same era.... im going to have to take a look at the APP back catalogue a bit more I think..... great stuff from a previously ignored band by me. I LOVE THIS ALBUM best track: I don't wanna go home worst track: the ace of swords tracks: 1...may be a price to pay *** 2...games people play *** 3...time *** 4...I don't wanna go home *** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El9O6JgXdMk audio link 5...the gold bug ** 6...the turn of a friendly card pt:I ** 7...snake eyes ** 8...the ace of swords ** 9...nothing left to lose *** 10.the turn of a friendly card pt:II ** 3s=5 2s=5 1s=0 rating: 2.5

The unique gravitational pull of the Dead's transitional sound in 1974 drew me back today to an A-list show that - once again - incited smiles and wonder! Various facets of 6/8 could serve as exemplars for an exhaustive range of commonly invoked DeadHead superlatives like cosmic, mind melting, and other worldly.
While the crown's inarguable jewel is the split PITB (i.e., PITB>WR>PITB reprise), don't forget the delectable WR filling, worthy of a menu listing at Katz's Deli, in addition to a second course of epic Eyes that, in small pockets like 7:10, exemplifies the maturation of Keith's trademark contribution; as well, at 10:25, for a brief period, Jerry orbits independently around a tight planetary core of jazzy fusion until the ensemble realigns along the song's signature theme...all in all, it's about 57 minutes of pedigreed Dead that could take the podium for Best of Show alongside prime cuts from any era! While I've practically memorized a couple lines from Ross's brief, but indelible, review, I now reopen the DeadBase tome for those who might not be familiar: "The great thing about the big 74 Dead jams is the way the band totally loses its identity as a bunch of hippies from Marin and turns itself (and the audience) into dinosaurs, galaxies, hurricanes, whirlpools, amoebas...about two minutes into the [Playin'] jam, Garcia is already so far gone into his prehistoric condor jag that the rest of the band has no choice but to 'boldly go where no man has gone before'. So, what started out as a nice outdoor-fun-festival-picnic-type event has suddenly become some kind of howling cosmic frontier back about 400 million years ago....This is unquestionably one of the most powerful Playin' jams in history" and "it culminates in a colossal giant-soundsystem roar that is probably still rattling windows at the center of the galaxy." Whew. With formal introductions completed, it's now Miller time: https://archive.org/details/gd1974-06-08...eok.flac16 peace/K

Recently got this, very good selection of unreleased b-sides & demos from his 1992 'Feel This' album sessions. Some of his best tracks are on this album!
