The Ghost of Tom Joad - Bruce Springsteen - my favourite album of his.

Jerome Wrote:The Ghost of Tom Joad - Bruce Springsteen - my favourite album of his. I couldn't stand that album when it came out, it was just too mellowed out for Springsteen IMO, but ive got to appreciate it more over the years... very atmospheric, emotive sound.... some of his best lyrics/storylines are on that album

![]() ERIC CLAPTON "old sock" cd,2013 solo career stats: studio albums..................22 singles............................26 compilations....................17 live albums......................11 soundtracks......................6 this album...................#7 US.......#13 UK............#22 AU old-slowhand's twenty-first solo studio album.... I dismissed this one when it was released and only got it when it hit the discount bins... but its a fine album, allbeit, an album of covers.... these are songs Eric was influenced by,loved as a youngster or ones he liked during his career... the guest list on this one is a who's-who of music with the likes of McCartney,SteveWinwood, JJ Cale amongst others.... the sound is typical of the slow bluesy-cum-reggae sounds we know of Eric, some songs have been tweaked with slightly to accommodate this style also, thus, making this album a 'clapton'album... JJ Cale's last recording session before his death was apparently on this record as Eric covered his "angel" track.... cover art work was a Clapton 'selfie' taken whilst he was on holiday in Barbados.... David Bowie apparently came up with the album title also whilst listening to the album over dinner with Clapton.... all up a pretty good album for a guy paying homage to his roots after fifty years in the industry I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: till your well runs dry best track: further on down the road tracks: 1...further on down the road *** 2...angel ** 3...the folks who live on the hill ** 4...gotta get over ** 5...till your well runs dry ** 6...all of me *** 7...born to lose ** 8...still got the blues ** 9...goodnight irene *** 10.your one and only man ** 11.every little thing ** 12.ur love is here to stay ** 3s=3 2s=9 1s=0 rating: 2.1

Record store listen to Barclay James Harvest's Live Tapes which then promptly got purchased. I don't think I'd ever heard any of their live material before and this really surprised me. That something extra that sometimes seem to be missing from their work, definitely makes an appearance on this double album - something to do with animation, maybe. Very nice indeed! Cool artwork too.

I used to have this on vinyl many moons ago - I like their 'Gone to Earth' and 'Eyes of the Universe' albums. The live album 'Berlin - Concert for the People' is not bad either.

"Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynnard Skynnrd. Love the song now and forever. It always makes me want to dance, but it gets stuck in my head all the time.
