I knew youd like that link....
I just cannot understand why they never had anymore hits outside the UK after the couple from their "sunshine on Leith" album...

#1 US, #1 UK, #4 AUS, #1 CAN
terrible cover art
7th album
looks like their second best selling
got the group 3 Grammy awards
no doubt driven by the fabulous single below
never cared much for the follow up of Shiny Happy People
except for Kate Pierson of B-52's backing up

NEIL YOUNG "storytone" cd, 2014

solo career stats:
studio albums....................36
singles..............................59

this album.........................#33 US...#20 UK...#55 AU

Neil's thirty-fifth solo studio album and sixth in five years....
it was also his second of 2014, and much better than that stupid whimsical "a letter home" crap....
this album consists of two discs, of which I will post the first disc first....
an acoustic set of songs with Neil either on guitar, guitar and harmonica or on piano....
songs basically have three themes running through them....the environment, the loss of his marriage to Peggi, and his new found love with Darryl Hannah....
nice lyics, especially the odes to Ms.Hannah including my favourite track "im glad I found you"....
not a bad album from a guy fast approaching fifty years of recorded material....
I was surprised to find this one didn't chart in his homeland of Canada(or maybe the Wiki hasn't been updated, but it seems strange it never charted there?)

Disc #2 of the Neil Young album.....
exact same tracks as the first disc but this one is not acoustic....
the tracks feature Neil with a band, alone on electric guitaror with an orchestra as back up.....
a theres a jazz type track,even a blues track....
some songs like the ones in blues and jazz are faster than the acoustic ones on disc one for obvious reasons....
theres nothing I don't like on the second disc which goes to prove that arrangement does make a big change to finished product...
sorry, but theres no links to the band version of my favourite track here whish differs from my favourite on the acoustic disc....

career stats:
studio albums...................3

this album...................#21 AU
singles:
"tomorrows gone"........#41 AU
"a little closer".............#99 AU

this was one of those $2 picks from a discount bin to get something i'd never heard or heard of....
third and final album from these Aussie alt rockers....
first two albums were apparently rock/grungy, but this one is more mellow....
I haven't heard the other two albums or any of their singles from those albums so I cannot make any comparisons....
about half of this is okay, and I mean simpy okay, it doesn't inspire me to look further in to the other two albums
good that my favourite track was a single though....

debut set from this band from Athens,Georgia....
its another of those I picked up from a discount bin for something different...
its bit poppy, a bit dance orientated, a bit mellow but mostly its a piece of crap....
the songs just sound hollow, like theres no substance or 'oomph!' in the music...
that means it was probably either poorly recorded and mixed or that is the sound they were looking for, either way....
my favourite track has a bit of a Joe Jackson feel happening, especially in the vocals....

"sovereign light café"...#74 UK

UK alt-rock band's fourth album, and their fourth to peak at #1 in their homeland....
Brandon Flowers/Killers fans would love these guys as their music runs on similar parallels both musically and vocally...
I also hear similarities to Nate Ruess(Fun.) also....
an awesome album from a very good band...
now to put them on my 'to buy' list for their other three albums....

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

THE PRETTY RECKLESS "light me up" cd, 2010

career stats:

singles:
"make me wanna die"................#16 UK..#61 AU
"miss nothing"..........................#39 UK
"just tonight"..........................#163 UK

this is their debut album....
I prefer the follow up "going to hell"....
album is full of raunchy straight up rock and roll and Taylor Momson has a fantastic female rock voice...
she does soiund a bit like Alanis Morrissette at times and that is no more evident than on my favourite track which would
have fitted in well on "jagged little pill"
all up, a pretty good album overall

I LIKE THIS ALBUM
