Asia - Asia - the only album of theirs worth buying. All the others were just playing catch-up.
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

Mike Oldfield - Exposed. A live album.

The Doobie Brothers - Taking It To The Streets - just a great album to chill out to after a shitty day.

Incantations - Mike Oldfield. I remember when I first bought this album and played it my late father happened to be in the room and I could see him wondering what on earth his strange son was taking at the time. Everyone else was buying chart albums and here he had this strange kid who was coming home with weird records that made no sense to him at all. But he did like Heavy Horses - he played that one a lot when I was out of the house.

Cat Stevens - Catch Bull at Four (supposedly a Buddhist phrase - you can see where he was heading) - love this album. 'Teaser' and 'Tea' were probably more successful but this is the one I really like.

he's one artist who never made a bad album, including the Yusuf albums IMO...
great writer, lovely vocalist!
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
Mike Oldfield - Heaven's Open - awful album. That's the last time that one is coming out of the CD rack.
Camel - Harbour of Tears - stunning stuff!

the way I read your Oldfield posts through the years, his material seems to be hit or miss...would that be a fair assessment Jerome???

Mark Knopfler – The Ragpicker’s Dream. I hear something different every time I listen to this album but “Hill Farmer’s Blues” remains a favourite - that guitar is so perfectly placed – brings the whole thing to life ... astonishing … it's a handful of notes. How can it be so subtle and yet such a vital component?? Artistry, plain and simple.
The album version ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLZC65EEyLU And a slightly extended live version, which I quite like ...
