DAVID GILMOUR "david gilmour" cd, 1978

solo career stats:
studio albums........4
singles..................8

this album.............#17 UK...#29 US
singles:
"theres no way out of here"...no chart action

Dave's first solo set....
I have this one obviously, "about face" which I haven't heard yet, and "rattle that lock" which I love immensely.
three instrumentals on this one and I like two and love one of them...
that Pink Floyd sound is all over this one...
I think I prefer him over Waters now as a writer and a vocalist...
and there was never any denying his skills on his axe...
all up a very good album, much better than I thought it would be...

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: milhalis
best track: no way

Today it's Dave Sturt's 'Dreams and Absurdities' - great album if you are into the eclectic.
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

Next up - Kate Bush - Lionheart - not totally mad about KB but I like this album.

18th album
#44 here but #2 in the UK
I wasn't expecting much from this
but it was surprisingly good
couple of covers that pass, Oasis and Graham Parker, but I'll take the originals
this was 1 album before Rod went off on his Songbook series
that move paid off for him but not for me

his 6th album
#13 here and his first platinum
on the strength of Cracklin' Rosie, his first #1 single
that song is unlike the rest of the album which has an African feel

like this

On "tonight I'm yours" he does a superb cover of "just like a woman"

On camouflage he has a good cover of "some guys have all the luck"

There's probably covers on the others also but I cant recall off the top of my head.
