great live performance where Natalie speaks of its source

Kenneth "K. K." Downing, Jr was born on this day in 1951, somewhere in the UK. He is the Grammy Award winning guitarist and songwriter from Judas Priest and was with from their inception in 1970, to 2011.

This track from Sad Wings of Destiny, is not typical of their oeuvre, being mainly a ballad, but there are bits which will no doubt appease the committed metalheads (such as CH seems to be turning into of late. Lol!!)

1941: Hank B Marvin
that would make him 74 years young today...
one of rock and rolls early guitar heroes and a huge influence on as many guitarists(mainly English I guess)
over the decades as Duane Eddy, Chuck Berry, Keith Richards and Carl Perkins were...
member of Cliff Richard's band The Shadows.
the Shadows also had a hell of a lot of instrumental hits on the UK charts in the 1960s
including five #1 hits between 1960 and 1962.
Hank now lives right here on the outskirts of Perth in a rural suburb called Brigadoon...
how do I know where he lives???...because I did the internal carpentry in his house during
construction many years ago(well, about 25 years ago I guess)...
he is a genuinely nice guy from what I saw of him and when he spoke.
heres one of my favourite tracks from his band The Shadows...
BTW, Hank is the guitarist who is wearing glasses(spectacles)

^Yup! I second that.

Ben Harper was born on this day in 1969, Pomona, California. He is a versatile and eclectic artist – he plays a host of instruments and sings, and embraces a variety of styles – blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock/alt rock being just some of them, and sometimes all on the same album which is kinda discombobulating, but never boring!

Whatever he does musically, he seems to bring passion, which is seldom a bad thing. His maternal grandparents had a music store, The Folk Music Center and Museum, which was apparently frequented by Leonard Cohen and David Lindley, the latter of whom has had a profound influence on his work, and who appears on a couple of his albums. Harper has won three Grammy Awards and is noted for his guitar skills.

From Burn to Shine, because I have it … somewhere!

1944: DENNY LAINE:
that makes him 71....
founding member of Moody Blues and their vocalist in the mid 1960s...
went on to become a founding member of Wings with Paul and Linda McCartney...
its was his departure from Wings citing Paul's drug habits that brought down the band in 1980...
here's one of my all time favourite singles....
