With a handful of exceptions, I never really liked much of David Bowie's stuff at all.

It's possible to admire someone's creativity and originality without particularly liking or enjoying them, and that's exactly how I feel about Bowie.

yes bob_32 im the same to an extent mate...
I think I have around 20 of his 27 studio albums on cd, around 10-12 on vinyl...

I either really like his albums a great deal or dislike them,
when I say dislike I generally mean, love two maybe three tracks, like another one or two and dislike the the other half of it,
he's either too far "out there" for me or the songs are simply filler IMO.

when he is good I don't think anyone in the industry can match him, but when he's bad he is terrible.

in the dictionary under the words "creativity" and "originality" there is a picture of Mr.Bowie.

Ooops, sorry mate!

but I bet you don't love "lodger", "the next day", "heathen", "hunky dory" or "scary monsters" as much as I do???

Best David Bowie songs IMO:

Life On Mars?
1984
The Man Who Sold the World
Ashes to Ashes
This Is Not America
Criminal World
Loving the Alien

I could probably put together a personal "best of" Bowie compilation that I would enjoy; that's all I would really need.

DREAM THEATER "six degrees of inner turbulence" cd, 2002

career stats:
studio albums...............13
singles.........................25

this album..................#46 US

prog rock band's eighth studio album....
again, a conceptual theme running through it....
deals with addictions, lifetime struggles and finally, mental disorders...
all very depressing stuff really...
but it works in the concept of the album as a whole....
musically, theres mainly the hard rock side of them but it does slow down
in places....
only six tracks on here over two discs and 100 minutes of music....
ive tracks on disc one and one solitary 42minute track on the second disc....
that second disc track is split up into eight parts, but I see it as one piece....
a very good album, not as good as 1999's Scenes From A Memory, but still bloody brilliant IMO

I LOVE THIS ALBUM:

worst track: blind faith
best track: disappear

tracks:

1...the glass prison ***
2...blind faith **
3...misunderstood **
4...the great debate ***
5...disappear ***
6...six degrees of inner turbulence **

Jon & Vangelis - Chronicles - Mr Anderson's voice just soars on this compilation of tracks. Stunning stuff especially 'Italian Song'.
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

The Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery & Imagination. The re-mastered version which is definitely a step up from the original. Some new guitar work and drums are a lot more vibrant as well. A masterpiece. Pure and simple.

I never had the original, I only have the remastered.

I was rather amused by Parsons' liner notes in the remastered edition, in which he says "As one who believed in reincarnation, I think Poe would have approved."
