Free â Highway. Picked up a vinyl copy of this the other day â not their most acclaimed album, in fact it was given short shrift by various critics. Fire and Water wouldâve been tough act to follow though, and IMHO, there are some good, songs here ⦠they really had a great sound -

Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge - a very pastoral-sounding album. Good for a Sunday afternoon.

Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden. I have read many reviews about this album over the years and they all say that this is an absolute masterpiece, but I do not agree. It's a bit of a shambles to me. Does have some nice touches here and there but it falls way short of being a masterpiece. It's a very experimental album in many ways and sometimes it just does not hit the spot. A masterpiece? - aikona.

Freddy was diagnosed with AIDS less than a year after this was released... lots of synth/electronic stuff on this album.... a far cry from their debut self titled set where on the back cover May proudly wrote "no synths on here just real instruments!", or words to that effect... very little to champion on this album... none o what I would call typical Queen tracks because Freddie is not using his voice to its usual standard and gone are the soaring solos from May.... I this was another band, maybe a young up and coming band I may nave liked this this but their reputation precedes them and leaves this one for dead IMO.... I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM WORST TRACK: gimmee the price best track: friends will be friends tracks: 1...one vision ** 2...a kind of magic ** 3...one year of love ** 4...pain is so close to pleasure ** 5...friends will be friends ** 6...who wants to live forever * 7...gimmee the price * 8...don't lose your head * 9...princes of the universe * 3s=0 2s=5 1s=4 rating: 1.5

Mark Hollis - Watershed (song)
His solo work, and the later albums of his band Talk Talk, are spoken of very highly, but I never really explored them. Maybe I should.

Bob Lind - Magellan Was Wrong
A bit of a disappointment - a couple of great songs but overall I don't like it nearly as much as his previous album.
