album has sort of a Stone Roses thing happening...
light melodic almost psychedelic sounds without being psychedelic...
album falls a bit flat towards the end but overall...
not a bad album, would probably get their debut if I saw it in a discount bin...

neither album charted,
two singles from their debut album(not this one) made the lower reaches of the UK
singles chart and that's that.

The Idan Raichel Project Quarter to Six. Actually, I listen to his stuff regularly – find it hugely fulfilling and comforting listening, and yet I don’t understand a word they’re singing. The very first time I heard his music, it struck a profoundly resonant chord – probably some deep seated genetic roots connection.

On this release there are two particularly beautiful songs for me (and neither of them are Hebrew, but that is the nature of Idan Riachel – he’s a wonderfully expansive and inclusionary creature, and the fusion works so beautifully!). The first, from Mali with Vieux Farka Touré - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaCpc7osbek

And the second, with the counter tenor phenomenon that is Andreas Scholl singing “In Stiller Nacht” – two completely diverse offerings on one release; fantastic!
