See, I told you so - mission accomplished! The man is forever converted. And now for my next trick I am going to get him to sing the praises of the Clinton/Trump candidates............

yea you're right CH
seems like you did go through a conversion
I take partial credit
as far as the song
it's just one of those things where you fall in love with something
and expect everyone else to drool over it also
then you are in shock when they don't feel like you did on your first listen
not keeping in mind that reaction is based on current mood

you've got more chance of me buying "meddle", "obscured by clouds", "ummagumma", "atom heart mother", "more", "piper..." and "saucerful..." than that,
oh yeh, and Syd's solo efforts.

this is whole reason music is wonderful, one day something crops up you never cared for and you see it in a different light altogether so its like "brand new" all over again.
and yes, i'll let you take the credit, you've been nagging me for years about the Eagles.

Funny, I never thought the Eagles and America were all that similar at all. I have albums by both bands, I think they both did some great songs and both did lame stuff.
As for the Eagles, I don't think they ever surpassed the Desperado album. I liked them less after Joe Walsh joined; he added a kind of bluesy grungy sound that I don't think they needed.

By the way, I'm sure CH meant to say "Blur", not "Blue". Those two bands are very different!

THE EAGLES "desperado" cd, 1973
career stats:
studio albums........7
singles................29
this album.......................#41 US...#31 AU..#35 CAN...#39 UK
singles:
"tequila sunrise"..............#64 US...#68 CAN
"outlaw man"..................#59 US
second album from The Eagles....
bit of a country sound happening here...
even the lyrics are very "outlaw country" in places...
a hugely consistent album IMO, only let down for me is the instrumental of
"doolin-Dalton", I don't see the need for that, to me it just doesn't fit the album...
that said at the end is a reprise of "doolin-Dalton" and "desperado", which I think is simply superb...
its like both songs were meant to be recorded as one piece, still love the individual versions of
each track also...
even the tracks I like but don't love were unlucky to not get a *** rating....
a great album, scores slightly higher than Hotel California from me and at the moment this one would be my
go to album of theirs without a shadow of a doubt!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
worst track: Doolin-Dalton (instrumental)
best track: desperado

Can't argue with CH's praise of the Desperado album. One point of disagreement though: I think "Saturday Night" is the best song on the album, and possibly the best of their entire career.

PAUL McCARTNEY "McCartney" 2011 reissue boxset
disc number two in the remastered, re issued boxset of his debut solo set from 1970...
a couple of unreleased tracks on here:
"suicide"....an uptempo similar sound to "Martha my dear" from White Album, passable but only just...
"woman kind"...a nothing song with no real melody nor tune, terrible, a sarcastic dig at the women who 'burn their bras' etc...
no wonder it remained unreleased...
"don't cry baby"...an instrumental track, sound familiar to another of his songs from around that period,
I cant place whether its from "ram" or "wildlife" but its in the groove of both albums...
an early demo version of "maybe im amazed" on here also, I like it...
three previously unreleased tracks also from 1979's final Wings tour....
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
worst track: women kind
best track: every night (live)

yeh I know, its a strange shot of cherries and cherry liquid in a bowl...WTF!
the back of the album cover might have been a better choice:
