NYC alt rock/indi rock band... female vocals on most tracks, a duet between band members also... sound varies, almost psychedelic in places, mellow in others, a bit of a Byrds 'jingle jangle' guitar sound in others... female vocals irk me on at least half the tracks but im not sure why... the only track I really liked on that Spotify listen, the duet: [video=youtube;6zYRBCQqY6s]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zYRBCQqY6s[/video]

I haven't liked much of what I have heard from The Avalanches.
Interesting that you compare it to Moby. He uses samples extensively, yet to me they do not seem to overwhelm the music. I think the difference is that Moby uses samples in the service of music, while The Avalanches are almost the other way around. |
