John Illsleyâs
Testing the Water, followed by
Long Shadows; of the two I think I prefer
Testing the Water. The man quietly goes about his business with a minimum of fuss and puts out some quality work IMHO ⦠good lyrics. Still has that unmistakeable Dire Straits sound coming through. Not a great singing voice, but pleasant listening all the same ⦠now and then he reminds me of Eric Andersen mixed up with Roger McGuinn!! Lol!

Step back one decade and you may use any of Iron Maidens running themes...

And here's another one:
Run to the hills
Not sure what audience you're targeting, maybe won't work on many people below 40 :/ but they're still great rock/metal songs to me

don't need that live version of the Free World
that kicks it off then we close with the studio
the On Broadway cover was interesting but I didn't like it
then throw out Don't Cry and the rest are keepers

you surprise me, wouldn't have thought youd have that one let alone like it because of the grungy CH sound,
and would have thought youd have given up on him with those crappy mid 1980s albums.
agree with you about Mother Earth, total BS IMO also...
love your favourite, but this is mine:
