What Are You Listening To?
Does anybody like System of system of a down ?
Reply
System of a down, another group I've known by name for a long time but never really listened to... Maybe it's time to give them a try
This one is an 80's soft rock ballad. (or early 90's)
I guess this Norwegian group never really made it globaly but they had their time of fame in parts of Europe

^^ The only Norwegian bands I know are A-Ha and Gazpacho.

Re the above clip: on the Youtube page, some numbskull lamented that he couldn't understand the words because "being American I cannot understand Norwegian." Funny, to me it sounds like he's singing in English, and not even with a particularly thick accent. I don't think that person listened very closely.

Maybe he was referring, implicitly, to the in-between-talk when the singer is telling the audience to sing along in the refrain. He speaks Norwegian on those parts...
I bet you know of at least one more norwegian artist - Kygo... Or?

Actually, when given a second thought I think it's somewhat strange that neither Finland nor Norway has generated more big artists than they have... Both Denmark and Sweden is way more productive in that sense, with Iceland in between. And among all Nordic countries I consider Swe and Nor being the closest ones in most matters...

I'll give you one more Norwegian to keep in memory.
This womans voice is among the best there are and combined with one of Abbas most beatiful songs it's absolutely stunning

I think when you say "Finland" most English-speaking music fans think "Lordi", and that's about as far as it goes.

Oh, and that is indeed a very nice rendition of the "Angel" song.

Guess Lordi is the most, and maybe only, famous artist from the Fins...
That woman has one of the most beatiful and flawless voices I've ever heard...

And by the way, The Rasmus was quite popular outside Finland for a while some 15 years ago. This was their most popular song, In the shadows, quite good actually, lightweight rock

Oh yes I forgot about The Rasmus.I thought they were OK,listenable but not brilliant. There seemed to be a number of bands at that time who had a very similar sound.

And then there were this female violinist, Linda Lampenius (or something)... And yes, Norway has their violinist to, Alexander Rybakk... But don't believe hw achieved any more global success after Fairytale. ..
