ROLLING STONES  "blue and lonesome"  cd,  2016

the band's thirtieth studio set...
a collection of covers, all old blues songs that influenced the band back in the day...
i knew not one of the songs, so to me its not covers...
its earthy, rootsy, the recording sounds raw like a blues record should...
lots of guitar and harmonica on here...
Jagger's voice is sublime, best ive heard from him on record in almost forty years...
a great collection of songs which take the Stones back to their humble beginnings...
i could have posted any of the tracks from the album but shose one with a video, allbeit
a crap one...

THE DOORS  "morrison hotel"  cd,  1970

it may sound strange but i never cared for the band until about
a year ago when it all came together...
i bought this one and "L.A Woman", love that one immensely...
cant say the same for this one though...
yeah, its good but its not loaded with classic songs...
that said, it does contain my favorite track of theirs...
a good album but not in the same league as the other one...

from the album, my all-time favorite track of theirs:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Camel - Rajaz - people used to sing songs while they rode on camels over the desert - the timing of the songs always matched the rhythm of the camel's movements. That's what inspired this magnificent album. And of course that magnificent guitar is ever-present. One of the most creative bands to have come out of the 'prog' era.

George Benson - Weekend in LA - have not heard this for quite a while. Superb album.

ELTON  JOHN  "don't shoot me, im only the piano player"  cd, 1973

his sixth studio set....
#1 just abut everywhere....
two singles from it: "crocodile rock" and "Daniel",
Australia also had "teacher I need you" as a hit single....
all three of those songs sum up the album perfectly with the songs
being rockers or ballads...
not my favourite album of his, but I still love it!

its pretty hard to go pass this ne from the album:

Yes, it's a great album. It was my first album with Queen and my favorite song is '39

Dancing with the Lion – Andreas Vollenweider. A great way to start a week! This sounds like a celebration, right from the word go – exciting – not an adjective usually reserved for new age music. Then again, he’s venturing far more into the poposphere here, aided and abetted by a whole lot of Latin, oriental, eastern and other exotica, not least of which, some very fab guitar work by Janne Schaffer (session guitarist for ABBA and others, and who incidentally made a solo album with ALL the Porcaro brothers and their father, which I’m going to have to look up now, lol!) and to my surprise David Lindley on pedal steel guitar and bağlama. It shouldn’t really be a surprise, I ought to know by now that DL pops up in the most unexpected of places! And I’m posting in this thread because IMHO, there are a number of rock elements on the album – new age rock?! All instrumental with a couple of choral type vocals thrown in now and then …

“Dance of the Masks” …

his best album IMO Jerome....
superb lyrical content, brilliant melodies, great production and overall sound...

i read somewhere recently that after the album was finished Bob Dylan refused to talk to Knopfler
for years because MK put too much of himself into the album and he(Dylan) didnt consider it a Dylan album.

Didn't know that one but it does not surprise me. Dylan does not come across as the easiest of persons to get along with. While Knopfler's influence can clearly be heard on the album the bassist and drummer also left their mark on the project. Regardless, it's still my favourite Dylan album.
