THE BAND "the band" cd, 1969:
their second album...
I own the debut and this one, both excellent IMO...
love just about every track on this one but will post something a little different
from the usual suspects this time round...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

REBA McENTIRE "Reba #1's" cd, 2005
two disc set of Reba's #1 hits up to 2005...
this is the first disc im posting now...
sixteen number ones and one newly recorded track to open the disc...
that new tune fits well, its a good song, it was released as a single but failed to
reach the top 40, I guess everyone who wanted it bought the album...
a sensational disc of hits here from bluegrass, traditional country, alternative country and
folky ballads...
only thing I don't like is her cover of Phil and Don's "cathy's clown" which has a totally different
arrangement to the original and some songs should be left alone, period!...
finding it hard to pick a favourite track off this one and that's generally the case with an album
this good because I LOVE THIS ALBUM
this was a #1 hit from 1985:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

REBA McENTIRE "Reba #1's" cd, 2005
disc 2 of the two disc compilation of #1 hits...
even less country on here than the first disc...
shes more a ballad love song artist now...
again, love just about everything on this disc...
could have picked just about all the tracks for a favourite so a stab in the dark
for this one, which incidently is something i'd like to give Reba LOL
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

LORETTA LYNN & CONWAY TWITTY "feelins' " vinyl, 1975:
had no idea they had recorded ten albums together...
this is the fifth, only one I own...
I love Loretta and Conway but theres something about this album
that really annoys me....
the songs are okay though, nothing too much with them, theres just something missing.
a spark, chemistry, not sure...
the title track:

MUMFORD & SONS "sigh no more" cd, 2009:
picked out five "M" cds to play over the next few days and McCartney wasn't one of them!...
first up, Mumfords….
wasn't sure about this alt-folk one...
loved it when it was released, sort of like the second album, hated the third(didn't buy that one),
thought their fourth was a step back in the right direction and bought it...
phew!, I need not have worried, this one still stands up well as a folk, alt-folk, bluegrass album..
good stuff, I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Felt like listening to Gordon Lightfoot and chose Summertime Dream because of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".

LADY ANTEBELLUM "need you now" cd, 2010:
the band's second, I own the debut and obviously this one...
I went off them after this album, I guess I thought their music got crap....
im still not convinced these guys are country, well, not real country anyway...
a good crossover album, nothing I dislike and nothing I love neither...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

FOTHERINGAY - Fotheringay
Their one and only proper album - there's a '2' but it's outtakes and demos etc. Basically an offshoot of Fairport Convention - what a pity Sandy Denny died so young - amazing talent.
She sings lead on a lot of these but so does Trevor Lucas, her longterm boyfriend then husband. They do a fantastic cover of Gordon Lightfoot's "The Way I Feel", IMHO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUeTVLZoMeg - but then it would be difficult to fault any of the tracks. Fab album.
This is the opener - "Nothing More" - written by Sandy Denny
