^^
im a fan of Lana Del Rey but have to be in the mood to listen to her, likewise Jack White
that track is from her Ultraviolence album (my least favourite of hers IMO)
never knew it was released as a single??

“Being in the mood” is a hard one to explain. There are some classical music works I’m only in the mood to listen to once a year at most. Mostly because they’re emotionally draining in the extreme. 'Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde’ (The Song of the Earth) is one. The best performance (IMO) is an old mono one with Kathleen Ferrier as soprano. The final song is essentially someone sing about dying. When she recorded it she was dying of cancer. the entire orchestra and conductor knew and kept breaking up during the recording. Ferrier at one stage turned to the orchestra and said. “Hey, who's dying around here, you or me?”
Then there are songs that were effectively the soundtrack to a love affair, later gone wrong. Some of those I can’t listen to decades after, one never. Enough already, I’m getting maudlin.

This is a test post (I may have posted this clip previously) I’ve had a long struggle with the forum’s software ( or maybe the software on all my Macs?) that’s blocked me logging in over and over again. Fingers crossed this works.
The moderators have been endlessly patient and helpful trying to solve this for me - they have my thanks. I only wish we knew why it happend in the first place in case someone else gets hit with the same problem. I suspect you should be very afraid if you try to log on only to encounter a long page of what appears to be Linux code.

six track 'ep'
five live, one studio recording
a couple of covers
love the opening track, the only studio track
the other five have all the energy of 1970s punk but I don't like them
I DO NOT LIKE THIS 'ep'

TONI CHILDS "house of hope" cd, 1991

American singer
second album of six, only one I own
had a dozen or so chart hits in Australia and New Zealand
very little chart action anywhere else
sings a lot about social injustice. abuse. domestic violence etc
sort of like Tracy Chapman only full band as opposed to acoustic
love her voice, its strong yet frail, she expresses the feel of the songs
vocally, you can feel the pain, sorrow, happiness etc as she sings
a very good album

favourite:

their third.
produced by Nick Lowe.
was great to pull this one out and give it a whirl in the car.
big hit, Olivers Army, that's the overall album sound also.
love just about every track on here, yet, the hit isn't the best track on here,
nor is it his best album IMO.

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.
