thought i needed to hear some vintage Uncle Neil after several beginners guides posts.
recorded live with the audience participation edited/dubbed out.
then he releases the same thing as "live rust" with the audience sounds...smart dude!
superb collection of songs.

Having waded through new releases of varying descriptions in fits and starts and finding it all thoroughly disappointing, decided to listen to this, which I'm less familiar with than some of their other stuff. Definitely missing a shining guitar, but overall a good listen, I found.

I can't remember anyone on the forum ever mentioning this guy but he is a great songwriter - very intelligent lyrics and a simplistic beauty in his work. These two tracks below are played a hell of a lot on Irish radio. Whenever it comes on I turn it up. Love this stuff.

actually read somewhere once that when Dolly offered the track to Elvis back around 1970 that she was invited to the studio to hear Elvis rehearse it, he loved the song.
later that afternoon she recieved a call from Tom Parker saying he(Parker) "had to have 50% of the song ownership if Elvis was going to record it, thats the deal". Dolly replied "no, i wrote it, its mine", thus Presley never recorded it.
she says she cried all that next night because her hero/musical idol would never be able to record it.
shame, because back then he would have nailed that song.
