Happy Birthday to Derek Holt - born on this day in 1949, somewhere in England. He was one of the original members of the Climax Blues Band and I think he's still active today although he left the band some time ago - none of the founding members are in it any longer. He is a multi-instrumentalist but mainly took care of the bass in their heyday, oddly enough one big exception being the song he wrote and sang lead on - he plays the keys (in the video at any rate), and it's one of their biggest hits - "I Love You" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvDwr9-MlfE. They recorded their first album at Abbey Road in 1968, in Studio 1 while the Beatles were in Studio 2 and Pink Floyd in Studio 3! Those must've been the heady days!! He also toured with Curved Air and had an association with Stewart Copeland (Police).

Hadn't heard this in forever - it's quite funky ...

imagine those young band's (climax blues band/pink floyd) and how they must have felt being in the same studios at the same time as The Beatles, what a buzz for them.
im pretty sure it was around this time that Paul McCartney and David Gilmour struck up their lifelong friendship.

I pray that country singer Tracy Lawrence had himself a safe and wonderful 54th birthday yesterday! I never get tired of hearing his songs named "Time Marches On" or "Texas Tornado" when I find them on the radio.

God bless you and him always!!!
