Andy Bown (Andrew Steven Bown) was born on this day in 1946, in Beckenham, South London. He is still with Status Quo – plays the Hammond and other keys as well as guitar, harmonica and some vocals. He’s played with other bands, Judas Jump and Herd (of whom I’ve never herd), toured with Pink Floyd and appears on The Final Cut and Roger Waters’ The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking. He did some work with Peter Frampton too – heaven only knows how he fitted it all in – Status Quo have released over 100 singles and 33 albums in their time, and he’s made 5 solo albums as well! Dipped into one of ‘em – not my thing - singing is not his strongest point, sorry to say.
