This was written as DG's contribution to an album titled Simmerdim: Curlew Sounds about which he says (or his YouTube channel says, to be more accurate! ... "This song was written for a new multi-artist, double album of music and soundscapes inspired by the endangered curlew, whose evocative calls have inspired a wealth of folklore, poetry and music. Proceeds for the album will go to curlew conservation."
And I learned a new word/s - simmer dim, which means the night-long twilight found in the (British) Northern Isles around midsummer. Huh!
There's an acoustic version as well but the echoes etc., on the manipulated one kinda conjure more of a picture in my mind. On the other hand, there's nowhere to hide on the acoustic version, and no need to either!
