BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "the wild, the innocent & the e-street shuffle" cd, 1973
his second of twenty...
E-Street Band are featured, just not credited with equal billing...
the sound of the album is a bit underwhelming with its production as it sounds too sterile IMO...
songs are still trying to find their groove in places, a hint of funk on the opening track, touches of jazz, even a smoky barroom feel on one or two tracks and touches of folk, none of which would sound out of place on an early Billy Joel album...
Bruce's vocals sound restrained, safe and careful and lack the blistering raw feel of their live counterparts...
that said, it is still a good album, no bad tracks just subdued versions of great live songs...
