Today's pick - turns out Mr McLean is not the perfect man if news articles are correct, but he did have a moment of absolute brilliance/genius.

Vincent was a master stroke of genius in much the same was as Van Gogh's brush strokes were.

Today's pick - one wonders what this band could have achieved if they had stayed together - https://youtu.be/kNR2oCuBNYw

a revisit
i wanted a NY album but didnt want to randomly pick something that was very average so i pulled a handful of my faves of his and then randomly picked this one from the pile, and what a pick it was...
the album is a masterpiece on every level for me.
i could have picked any track fromt he album to link but went with this one on this occasion:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

another revisit today,
this time the follow up album to After The Gold Rush...
Harvest, widely regarded as Uncle Neil's masterpiece but IMO it is far from that tag...
it is a very good album, no arguments from me there but it does sound a bit fractured to me.
sounds like Neil is trying too hard to do too many things musically which IMO makes the flow of the album disjointed.
the only track i do not really enjoy is "a man needs a maid", the rest is really good.
i do love this album just not as much as is commonly noted by millions of others.

another revisit today whilst doing the post-winter garden clean-up...
50 singles from 1955's "thats alright mama" through to 1977's "way down".
an excellent career spanning collection of the best singles he released during his lifetime.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

OPETH "damnation" cd, 2003
Swedish metal band...
their seventh of thirteen, my first and only...
a transition album between their Death Metal period and their now Progressive sounds...
a 'quiet' semi acoustic album produced by Steve Wilson...
hearing little bits of floyd from their quieter moments on this, hints of Gilmour's solo material in places too.
an almost Santana feel/groove in some of the guitar work also...
all up an impressive album that just gets better with each listen...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
