Today, I've been listening to, and watching, Supertramp's Paris. They really were remarkable. Rick Davies is a genius, Amen. But they were all pretty amazing. Bob Siebenberg barely breaks a sweat - seemingly - rock solid.

before i clicked on the link i tried to think of what Beatles tracks you might 'really like' and that one didnt even cross my mind.
just goes to show how many of their tracks get airplay because that one wasnt even issued as a single anywhere...

I heard a version of this track on the radio the other day. A female performer but I don't know who it is. A very good interpretation of the track. Must find out who it is.

Decided to listen Magna Carta's The Fields of Eden -2015. All over the place - a little folk, a little 'country', a little fusion, a little progginess, and a leetle rock with a touch of the blues - inoffensive but equally not hugely impactful. Vocals are not fab - I think they lost their good voice some time back and although obviously sincere, they don't seem to have a clear direction so it's a bit of a hotchpotch of sounds; as far as I can tell, they are fairly consistent on that score! There were really good at the epic tracks though, and I think that remains true here too. The title track is far and away the most satisfying (followed by "The Wild Geese") - even if it is a bit of a cautionary tale. Haunting violin (which is a thread throughout the album), great keys, lovely guitarwork ...

one of our old original members here, Gryphon, was a good friend of Magna Carter's lead singer/writer (thinking his name was Chris ??)

DREAM THEATER "the astonishing" cd, 2016
a revisit...
their thirteenth but my first at the time...
loved this when it came out and immediately purchased it...
ended up buying a large number of their back catalogue after this and quickly came to the conclusion that this one wasnt as good as originally thought...
things have not changed, it is still a good album but not as consistent and tight as their previous efforts...
sounded like they were trying too hard to be too clever and proggy on this one in hindsight...
and although this album isnt as good as originally heard i cannot criticise it because without this one i would not have found some of their fantastic back catalogue.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
