JIMMY BARNES ""hits anthology" cd, 1996
a revisit...
Aussie rocker...
a nineteen track compilation of hits from his solo career (84-96)...
blues rock, pub rock, ballads, soul/r+b and soft rock...
three duets:
one with INXS (good times), an old Easybeats cover...
the second with John Farnham (when something is wrong with my baby), an ald Sam & Dave tune...
and finally with Tina Turner (simply the best), a cover of the Bonnie Tyler song, also a hit for Ms.Turner...
the rest are originals except "the weight", a cover of The Band's classic 1968 tune...
an excellent collection of rock tunes by Mr.Barnes.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
link is for the first single of his i purchased on 7" vinyl

PAUL WELLER "as is now" cd/vinyl 2005
a deliberate revisit....
his eighth solo album...
a chart failure by his standards, only peaking at #4 in his homeland...
some rock, a touch of folk, soft rock, ballads and a funk tune...
everything he excelled at up to that point on one album...
my favourite album of his from his entire career which means...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
favourite on this listen:
I come to you
When you least expect
I call to you
To come with me now
I ask of you
To drop all things
Of absolution
And whatever may be
In your hands
All on a misty morning
I come to you with love
All on a misty morning
I come to you
I come to you with love
I talk to you
As a lover should
With a voice
Close to your ear
If I may
Get so near enough
You might hear
What I hear
It was all on a misty morning
I come to you with love
All on a misty morning
I come to you
I come to you with love
Let my hands be nimble
Let my tongue be quick
Let my loins move slowly
Against your skin
Let my face and mind
Disappear for a while
Let my kisses rain
Down like silk
Let our spit and sweat
Mingle into one
Let it form a stream
Of union
That would always run
Forever on
It would have no start
And know no end
It would have no start
And know no end
All on a misty morning
I come to with love
All on a misty morning
I come to you
I come to you with love

Has anyone else noticed that people jump from one song/track to the next, not even playing it all the way through? Don't even talk about a whole album. I don't mind a playlist, or a 'mixed tape' but let the song play out please! Must be getting old and grumpy - just seems to me a very bitty way of listening to music!
Currently putting things to rights and have listened to Gaucho - in its entirety ...
