THE BEATLES  "with the beatles" cd/vinyl  1963

their second UK release...
still an album away from all self penned songs but still masterful...
even the cover versions are excellent IMO...
my favourite album of theirs...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM (obviously!)

opening lead off track:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

BOB SEGER & THE SILVER BULLET BAND  "stranger in town" cd, 1978

his tenth career studio album, second with silver Bullet Band...
as much as i love this album i couldnt help thinking as i was playing it that it sounds a bit 'dated' now,
ie: stuck in the late '70s...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

fave on this occasion:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Right - I'm spending the first day of this new year with Mike Oldfield and he has no choice in the matter! Beginning with Hergest Ridge. Will see where to from there - probably Ommadawn - TBII will definitely feature a little later on.

Great minds think alike. Started off with 'Voyager' early this morning. Now busy with 'Music of the Spheres'.

LITTLE RICHARD  "grooviest 17 original hits" vinyl, 1968

one of the pioneers of rock and roll who without whom....
excellent foot tapping 1950s rhythm and blues at its finest...
one of the best compilations out there IMO...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

AL STEWART - Orange

Very good album - quite a retinue of musos too. Grumpy Old Rick, Tim Renwick, Brinsley Schwarz to name a few. No filler, IMHO. One Dylan cover - "I Don't Believe You".

"The News From Spain"

Also the instrumental - "Once an Orange, Always an Orange" ... which seems indisputable, I guess! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzFB1JWf4vY

WINGS   "venus and mars" cd/vinyl 1975

Paul McCartney's fifth post Beatles album
follow up release to Band On The Run...
everything a great rock album should be IMO...
acoustic tracks, pure rock and roll, blues rock, stadium rock, just fantastic in every way
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

the opening track live (plus 'jet' from BOTR in the live medley)

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

On Air - Alan Parsons - because it earwormed me. LOL! Ian Bairnson really was a top notch guitar player and I like Eric Stewart's voice. Some parts are very pop, ironically! Not that I care about whether or not music is popular. There are better APP albums though, despite carrying his unmistakable stamp. The instrumental track ...
