NEIL FINN - Out of Silence

On the face of a it, a simple offering, but oh so pleasing to the ear - elegantly done Mr Finn. Love listening to this album - not a single bad song on it, IMHO. Today - it's this one - the imagery always raises a smile ...

^And actually - he tackles some weighty subject matter, but it's the way he puts it across. Enjoy!!

THE BEATLES  "magical mystery tour" cd/vinyl 1967

a revisit
the nineth of thirteen standard 'catalogue albums'...
only released as a six track 'ep' in their homeland but expanded into a full length album everywhere else...
my favourite album of theirs is their second UK release "with the beatles", this one is a close second...
everyone talks about Sgt Peppers but that one, IMO, relies on studio trickery and effects as its major selling point (overall)
whereas this one is full of songs that were well crafted IMO... (Beatles' experts will be crucifying me at this point!)
either way, this is a more complete album.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

one of the songs that is fairly overlooked:

tracks:

1:   magical mystery tour  **
2:   the fool on the hill  ***
3:   flying  **
4:   blue jay way  **
5:   your mother should know  **
6:   i am the walrus  ***
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
1:   hello goodbye  ***
2:   strawberry fields forever  ***
3:   penny lane  ***
4:   baby youre a rich man  ***
5:   all you need is love  ***

3s -  7
2s -  4
1s -  0

rating:  2.7

NEIL FINN  "out of silence" cd, 2017

a revisit (a deliberate one at that too)
like Ruby said,
a simple offering of well crafted songs with some heavy subject matter...
love the basic vocal/piano offerings with a hint of orchestral additions (chamber music anyone LOL)
album contains some of his most mature complete heartfelt songwriting ever.
masterpiece anyone - possibly?
astonishing - definitely!
either way
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
