PAUL McCARTNEY "new" cd 2013
a revisit
for some reason this album resonated with me for the first time on this occasion
always disliked it with a passion but, yeah, its a cool album
shame SteveO (rest his soul) wasnt around to hear me say i like it
Lynne had no idea it was Macca when she heard it in the car earlier (is that a good thing?) LOL
certainly not anywhere near his best but it finally lakes the passing grade (1.8)
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
opening track:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

MOODY BLUES "long distance voyager" vinyl/cd 1981
a revisit
their tenth studio album
always loved this album cover with its gatefold image and its blue hue
cover art based on "punch" by 19th Century English artist Thomas Webster
if you look closely on the cover there is an image of the Voyager-1 spacecraft (not telling you where though, youll have to look for it)
anyway,
i always thought the Moody's were overrated, never understood the passion people have for them, i mean i loved "go now" from 1965 and their first album with Denny Laine on vocals. also love "nights in white satin" but the 1970s albums just bore me to tears.
this one is brilliant IMO except "nervous" which i still do not like much
proficient musicians, vocalists and song writers that no one can deny
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
a random pick because i couldntly consciously decide which one to link:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

^I think On the Threshold of a Dream is my favourite of theirs.
Listening to Gaudi - Alan Parsons Project. The last of the project albums. The title track is the pièce de résistance - John Miles on lead vocal along with Chris Rainbow and Eric Woolfson ... "La Sagrada Familia" ...

TOM PETTY "full moon fever" cd, 1989
a revisit
recorded in the wake of the Travelling Wilbury's album
contains contributions from all of those guys except Dylan
solid album containing the hits "free fallin", "i wont back down" and "running down a dream"
contains one cover, The Byrds' "feel a whole lot better"
great album, probably my favourite of his
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
one of the non single tracks:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

QUEEN "news of the world" cd/vinyl 1977
a revisit
their sixth studio album
contains the worldwide mega hit "we will rock you"/"we are the champions"
but so much more to love in between the covers
jazz, blues, rock, hard rock, pseudo-reggae and ballads
great album, probably in their top three albums for me
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
Brian May was never a great vocalist but im being drawn to his voice more and more in recent times
which is why i am picking this track to link
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

SHAWN PHILLIPS - Second Contribution
The soundtrack of my most impressionable youth and an iconic album cover. This album was a revelation. I don't revisit it too often - really should, despite the fact that it's imprinted on my psyche - you know, when you know exactly what's to follow at the end of each track. Marvelous music ... dunno what's going on with YT clips - they seem to be cutting short?? Never afraid to speak his mind ...
... which is followed by ....

^That's a good one too. I didn't find him until mid teens which is far too long ago to contemplate!

IAIN MATTHEWS - If You Saw Thro' My Eyes
Disc one of a 5 CD compilation set that I'm keen to get my hands on at some point! Thro' My Eyes: The Vertigo Years 1970-1974. For want of anything else 'new' that's speaking to me right now. Such a lovely, uncomplicated duet with Sandy Denny here ... way too short ... both the song, and her life.
And then I had to find "Woodstock" - love their spacey version, even although there's no million year old carbon on it!
