MEAT LOAF "braver than we are" cd, 2016
a revisit
his twelfth and final studio album
pretty sure i remember posting that it was his weakest studio album,
well if i didnt i probably think it is now
all songs written by Jim Steinman but theyre not anywhere near the same quality of previous material
this one sounds like a stage musical for the most part
yup, The Loaf's vocals are pretty well shot and strained which is actually said to hear
i guess this one would rate a 1.6-1.7 which technically means...
I CANNOT DECIDE WHETHER I LIKE THIS ALBUM
lead off single:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

DAVID BOWIE "diamond dogs" cd/vinyl 1974
a revisit
his eighth studio album
BTW, Lynne has a copy of the original 1974 banned cover.
i really dont get "it"
i dont understand the admiration for it or the attraction to it
there is literally one song i love (rebel rebel) and two i like (diamond dogs, 1984)
maybe it was one of those "had to be there" moments to appreciate it because
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
fave:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight

SUPERCHARGE "local lads make good" vinyl 1976
from Lynne's vinyl collection
from the UK
their second album, a top 10 album chart hit in Australia
well that was pretty bad
the cover says it all
rock with a dance vibe
linked track reached #3 on the charts in Australia, i guess that says something about Aussies, maybe??
i do not even remember the single or the band so shows how forgettable they were, and still are IMO
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
the single:
HUSH "get rocked!" vinyl 1974
from Lynne's vinyl collection
another artist i was not familiar with
Aussie glam rock/rock band
second album of five or six
just sounds so dated and old fashioned yet it was new to me LOL
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
only thing i genuinely love:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

MEAT LOAF "dead ringer" cd/vinyl 1981
a revisit
his follow up to "bat out of hell"
all songs written by Jim Steinman
heavier guitar driven rock than its predecessor pushing it to almost hard rock status in places
my favourite album of his
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
the single which features a duet with Cher
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

DAN FOGELBERG "exiles" vinyl 1987
from Lynne's vinyl collection
i own half a dozen of his 1970s album but not anything after that
sounded like the E-Street Band were backing him but they were not
which means you get the idea of the sound on this one
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
title track:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

sheer brilliance
so heartfelt and emotional
few can do what The Boss does.
song starts around the 4 minute mark, but the lead up story is so important to what the song.
again, sheer brilliance
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight

GRAHAM NASH "innocent eyes"
from the MH vinyl collection thread
his fourth solo album, was released in 1986
once you get over that horrible 1980s production and sterile drum sounds this is a very good album
like half of this and love the other half of it
cool album cover also
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

BOB DYLAN "rough and rowdy ways" cd, 2020
a revisit
his thirty-nineth studio album
some blues rock on here similar to Rolling Stones sounds
also some lighter jazz/blues spoken word pieces like Cohen
lyrically it is still full of images and cryptic phrases as expected
nothing bad on here and two or three that i love
pretty hard to go past the lengthy imagery of the 17 minute epic posted below
album rates 2.2 which is really good for an artist 58 years into his career when this was released
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

FISHBONE "truth and soul"
from the MH vinyl collection thread
US rock band
released in 1988, their second album
i expected 'hair metal' to be honest
what i got was an eclectic mix of various styles
styles include rock, ska and plenty of funky sounds
an okay album for a first up listen
would rate around 1.9 i guess which means...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
