PAUL McCARTNEY  "McCartney II"  cd/vinyl/box-set  1980

his tenth post Beatles album of thirty-three
a hint of blues, ambient electronica, dance, acoustic, pop so i think it fits "alt" as opposed to specific threads
an 'accidental' album of sorts because Macca had just build a new home studio and he was trying out the equipment
Ringo came over for dinner and Paul played him a few tracks he'd been playing around with and ringo asked "is that your new album"
thus what was purely experimental personal jams became the album
its an album that still divides fans
for me personally i score it a solid 2.3 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

his tenth of fourteen, i own five or six
although enjoyable, it didnt play out as good as i remembered it to be
album scores 1.7 from me which means

XTC  "fossil fuel: the xtc singles 1977-92"

from Lynne's cd collection
a double cd disk, 31 tracks and just under two hours in length
i was never a fan and this does not change my opinion
i must be the only person on earth who cannot stand XTC and still dont
not one single song of thirty-one i remotely like
album scores 1.0 from me but i love the cover art

JOY DIVISION & NEW ORDER "total: from joy division to new order" cd 2011

a compilation combining both bands
first five tracks are from Joy Division, the remaining thirteen, New Order
and both these artists cannot combine to make a comp that i remotely like
liked four of the Joy Division tracks and one of the New Order tracks
album scores 1.3 which means

Sturgill Simpson's nineth studio album, second under the JBS name, i own them all
elements of rock, country, funk, jazz and disco...yes disco, on here
a solid album as always from the new Mr Eclectic...
not going to post a score, y'all gotta wait until my EOY ranking list.

JOE JACKSON  "hope and fury"  vinyl  2026

another birthday gift from Lynne
his twentieth studio album,
was released several months ago
has everything a JJ album should have
punk drenched anger on the opening track, elsewhere theres rock, ballads, jazz-pop fusion and gorgeous melodies
album is a concept album of sorts as it is bout his love/hate relationship with London,UK and New York
he keeps most of the lyrics quite obscure and abstract for the most part
album is decent but the score wont be revealed until my EOY rankings lists
