im probably a bit biased here, i like it, on your rating system i'd give it 2.1......not the best nick cave album but still very good, i find he is one of those artists you either love or loathe. i might review it objectively over the next few days for you all after a couple of airings with the headphones on

It certainly wasn't for anything I just listened to. English band formed in 1983 and disbanded in 1992. Their largest popularity seemed to be in Japan for some reason. There were a few tracks here that were listenable but more that were pretty bad. With that name, I'm surprised they got as far as they did. Then again, that may be how the cult following developed. How could those kids brains full of mush not like a band with that name. Three tracks on here I like a lot, but seven that I hate. You do the math. Ok fine, I'll do it. Comes out to 1.7. Just enough for a passing grade. Yee!!haw!!!. Pretty sure this is their highest charting album at #31 with the single of Pepper a little lower. Love that country sound in TV Star but Cough Syrup kicks butt. David Byrne was always such a fun guy to watch. He was in to the music. You can always tell. With Brian Eno producing this third album, I think there was real collaboration going on, that worked well. They would continue that relationship. The Heads were starting to explore their capabilities here, with the African rhythms making their way, most notably on the lead off track, which I didn't care for. Life During Wartime has stuck with me for 30 years, so it must have something. Three more excellent tracks make this a good album. The clip for my favorite is just awesome. They got a nice workout and so did my feet, and my head. The album reached #21 in the states and #33 in the U.K. Life During Wartime leaped all the way to #80, amazing.
