What Are You Listening To?
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:ive got a couple of compilations on vinyl, also their 'waterloo sunset' album from 1966 on vinyl...which is brilliant, i have their 'state of mind' album on cassette somewhere from the early 1980s which is pish. so i too need to get some more Kinks music in my collection.

'The Tube' was a pretty good show in its day, only saw a couple of dozen shows at the time because i was on holiday in England at the time.
'Later...with Jools' is the best music programme i have ever seen.

Agreed Lloyd, Jools is a clown but his show is top notch. Always guaranteed to see an artist you've never heard before. It's not been on recentley though, not sure what is up. By the way, do you not like the song 'Come Dancing' by The Kinks? It's on the album you mentioned.

i love 'come dancing' Mr.Soul, its a classic Ray Davies song, just dont like the rest of the album, maybe i should find it and give it a whirl again to see if my opinion of it is still the same

Younger brother to Johnny. A lot to live up to. Of course Johnny never had a #1 record, so Edgar has him there. This is his fourth album and yielded the rare #1 instrumental track of Frankenstein. Probably the only rock instrumental I can give a perfect score. It just kicked butt. Actually I'll add In A Gadda Da Vida to that. No it's not an instrumental, but if you take out the vocals, it would still be perfect. In the band for this album were Ronnie Montrose and Dan Hartman and produced by Rick Derringer. Three fine tracks on here offset by three bombs still make it a good album. The album made it to #3 here with Free Ride at #14 along with the #1 Frankenstein.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

For those of you prog-heads out there: Just discovered an obscure Brazillian prog rock group from the early 70s who are quite good. Can't find any info about them on the net so I'm guessing that this is their only album from 1972:

Usually been doing my Beatles reviews from the remastered cd's. I still lack 2 of those to complete my set. That will be remedied. Meanwhile this lp was a U.S. release that served to fill in some gaps by the Capitol marketing fools. Most songs culled from the For Sale and Help british albums. One track short of a perfect score for me, with only the leadoff kansas City falling short. Just never cared for it that much. Everything else is superb, even the 3 non-originals. Had never heard 2 of them, Bad Boy and Dizzy Miss Lizzie, and still haven't, other than these versions. Probably don't own an album I would grade higher than this. Of course the album went to #1, along with the single of Eight Days A Week, and my favorite bombing out at #46.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Kansas City

Best Track - Yes It Is

If you wear red tonight,
Remember what I said tonight.
For red is the colour that my baby wore,
And what's more, it's true,
Yes it is.
Scarlet were the clothes she wore,
Everybody knows I'm sure.
I would remember all the things we planned,
Understand, it's true,
Yes it is, it's true.
Yes it is.
I could be happy with you by my side
If I could forget her, but it's my pride.
Yes it is, yes it is.
Oh, yes it is, yeah.
"Please don't wear red tonight."
This is what I said tonight.
For red is the colour that will make me blue,
In spite of you, it's true,
Yes it is, it's true.
Yes it is.
I could be happy with you by my side
If I could forget her, but it's my pride.
Yes it is, yes it is.
Oh, yes it is, yeah.
"Please don't wear red tonight."
This is what I said tonight.
For red is the colour that will make me blue,
In spite of you, it's true,
Yes it is, it's true.
Yes it is, it's true.
