Quite by coincidence, another Steve Albini production...

More delightfully raucous Folk-Punk that casts its' Folk net pretty globally. Not quite up to the standard of their Super Taranta ! set, but it's hard not to like this band.

One of the few albums that I own in both vinyl and cd format. I thought I had already done this one, but I don't see it. Maybe I put it in classical. Not many need an introduction to this album. Broke down the punk rock barriers here and saved me from disco. This is my favorite Clash album and I thought it would have scored higher than it did. Although plenty of tracks scored the highest rating, the fact that there are 19 inevitably led to some bad ones too. Still a great album. As would be expected, the album charted better in the U.K. at #9 than here, where #27 was the peak. We're a little slow here. Title track reached #11 in the homeland and was released as the b-side to Train In Vain here which reached #23.

dont beat yourself up over thinking you thought it could have scored higher, i find double albums always have a few dud tracks so 2.2 is about fair i think.
and yes, i own this on vinyl and cd also!

and i love the way the Clash can mix reggae and punk and make it sound good

Harvey is one of my fave Rock Chicks.

This is her second collaboration with Parish, and it may well not be the last. Parish seems to bring out Polly's feral tendencies, and some of the music here harks back to her earliest recordings. There are also some lovely, melodic songs here, so it's not too left field, but it's a million miles away from her last solo album White Chalk.

Not brilliant on first listen, but that's exactly what I felt about their previous effort Dance Hall at Louse Point, and that's proved to be a grower.

ADAM & THE ANTS "prince charming" 1981. #7aust, #2uk, #94us.

back in the early 1980's i was a huge fan of Adam Ant, he was different to everyone else around, the image, the kooky videos, the sound of twin drummers which gave their second album(kings of the wild frontier) a 'prime evil' beat and the fact that the late great Malcom McLaren was their driving force all interested me.

this was their followup release to that one was a change of sound again, this time with horns to beef up the sound and crystal clear production, along with the odd spanish guitar,a couple of slower tracks and an early incarnation of rap music which would take the world by storm a decade later.
all in all its not a bad album, it has some good tracks and some dud tracks, the Ants would split up after this one and Adam Ant would have moderate success in the UK over the next couple of years as a solo artist.

Debut from the Brit lads. Never more than a cult following here. This one starts out really strong for me with Car Trouble but never matches that. With four bad tracks, it ends up just barely making a passing mark. The band lineup would totally change after this release with 2 members going on to form Bow Wow Wow. This album has been re-released several times with track changes, but fortunately I have the original, on Do It Records. The album never charted here and it was not until its re-release after the success of Kings Of The Wild Frontier that it came in at #16 in the U.K.

i think your score is what i would give it also, the only difference is 'catholic day' is my favourite track closely followed by 'car trouble'.

ive got a couple of Adams solo albums also and they would just make the pass mark, which shows he could make ok singles but half baked albums, nevertheless his videos were interesting.
