Absolutely love Diamond Smiles off of here and it never touched our charts
wtf knows how this shit works?
I don't even recall hearing Mondays on the radio wherever I lived at the time.
Only came to the album because of Tonic For The Troops which I think is also a great album

i may have to go away and re-investigate "tonic for the troops" if you say its good...maybe i was not on the right wavelength when i heard it,
"diamond smiles" would have got 2.5 had i rated the album that way...too good for a ** but not quite a *** IMO.

This band started out as an anarchist Folk-Rock act, beloved of the traveller/new-age hippy movement in the UK.
This release from 2000 contains very little of the Folk-Rock origins. I was a bit distracted while listening (Baaad day at work), so was only half engaged. Decent enough...
Not scored on AllMusic.

U2 "war" 1983, vinyl/cassette. #1 UK, #9 AU, #12 US.
being St.Paddy's day i thought i best do an album from U2...in hindsight i should have picked Van the Man or kept the Boomtown Rats for today, but i didnt, so im about to dissapoint our Irish friends.
firstly:
i own around eight or nine U2 albums so i believe i have trhe right not to like some of their material.
secondly: i admire U2 for four reasons:
1.they do write good lyrics
2.they took stadium rock to a new level with their stage shows
3.they dont just sing about social and political change, they get off their backsides and put into actions what they believe in.
4.right or wrong, good or bad...U2 do try to reinvent themselves.
thats it, ive finished sucking up to U2...down to business
this is their third album, theres not really a great change in their material upto this point, except the boys have now learned to express their political side in a mature articulate way..."sunday bloody sunday", a sign of things to come,
apart from the two highlights on this on most of the music sounds very early 1980s pop in the vein of early INXS, and i dont like their music either.
i find most U2 albums boring and i struggle to listen to them in their entirety for some reason, even the couple i do like i have trouble staying focused. IMO U2 have a habit of making some brilliant songs and some complete doozies at the same time,
U2 just arent my cup of tea...not enough sugar and milk.
I DISLIKE THIS ALBUM

That's a good song, I can't believe the rest aren't available. I guess songs to look into would be...
Dashboard
Education
Float On
Whale Song
Black Cadillacs
Those are some of my favorites at least.
