1986 debut from UK Gothic Rock band.
This is like a heavier version of All About Eve - their Julianne Regan sings some backing vocals on this album - without plumbing the gloomy depths of, say, the Sisters of Mercy. But the subject matter is largely typical of the Goth bands (Painful unrequited love, death, that sort of thing), and they do it very well.
Good album.
AllMusic 4+/5 stars.

Nice post Tiggi. I have that album. It's alright but I much prefer Sisters of Mercy

The album starts of with the statement " I still believe in God but God no longer believes in me," and it just gets better and better. A strong effort from The Mission (featuring former members of The Sisters of Mercy - Wayne Hussey & Craig Adams). Thanks Tiggi.

ANGELIC UPSTARTS "the independant punk singles collection", cd.
oh God...i dislike this album so much!
UK punk group which disbanded in the mid 1980s, this album is a collection of "a" and "b-sides".
the music is a pale immitation of The Clash for the most part even though they do manage to do a respectful version of Clash's debut single "white riot". lyrically, for the most part, they lack the intelligence of Strummer/Jones and Weller or the shock value of The Sex Pistols.
"dont stop" is an average go at funk. "brighton bomb" is a response to the IRA's attempted assassination of Maggie Thatcher in 1984 and more semi acoustic to their earlier material, however, the best song here is "soldier"(b-side track to "brighton bomb") which is a well written acoustic song describing a british soldier on the streets of Nthn Ireland.
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

I've been listening to Collapse Into Now. the new R.E.M. and it's not bad and it's not great. It's just another R.E.M. album and I'm OK with that. I like it.

Hypothetically if the new Battles CD leaked, I reckon it would be hypothetically great!
