Supertramp - Slow Motion - not brilliant but does have some catchy stuff on it.

For some reason unknown, Supertramp played here at least six times(over three years) in the late seventies ! Rumour was that a member of the group had a girl friend from here.

I love Supertramp !....but too bad Roger Waters or David Gilmour didn't have a girl friend here !!!!...lol

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL a.k.a CCR "willie and the poor boys",cd. 1970.

over the space of four years(68-72) CCR released seven very good to brilliant albums with only a couple of bad tracks spanning that period IMO....one of them appears here in the lengthy instrumental "poorboy shuffle".
apart from that one doozy the other nine tracks are brilliant(including the other instrumental "side 'o the road"). elsewhere there is the classic single "down on the corner", two covers(cotton fields & midnight special),both of which have been overhauled to sound like true CCR songs, then there is the brilliant "fortunate son" in which Fogerty is at his angriest best describing how so many 'fortunate sons' from prominant families managed to escape the 'nam' draft, the album ends with another highly charged political song entitled "effigy" which is a perfectly haunting way to finish a near perfect album.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

2011 release of a live date in April 2010.

My own copy on shiny silver disc.

Joan Rocks out !!

Contains a handful of the achingly beautiful ballads with which she made her name - Love & Affection, The Weakness in me, & Willow - but for the most part this is JA in Bluesy Rock mode. I'm more familiar with her singer-songwritery stuff, but she's no slouch in Rock mode, playing some fairly impressive guitar.

Then there's the unique voice - unique, that is, until Tracy Chapman stole the territory - which is in fine form, and showing no signs of deterioration for her 60 years.

Good album.

AllMusic 4/5 stars.

ps We've booked tickets for her Autumn 2012 tour, playing in Canterbury...

dissapointing 1975 release by Beatle George IMO.
failed to sell in quantities anywhere and no real hit singles off it either.
follows the tried and true George sound but fails to hit the spot for me on a lyrical level.
five of the ten tracks here are rubbish and the other five barely make the like grading.
not a good place to discover GH''s solo works and probably the worst album of his that i own.

rating: a "do not like" 1.5.

from the album, two of the better tracks:

Roger Waters - Music from the Body. Thought I would give this another try. Sadly I have come to the same conclusion as I did before. This is complete utter crap. Never to be played again. What was Mr Waters thinking when he did this? Or maybe he wasn't!

My own copy on shiny silver disc.

This sounds great at proper volume !!

As reviewed previously, although I'd amend the acoustic description a bit. Most of the guitars here are electric, but the acoustics get a thorough work out.

I'd reiterate the Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree resemblance even more strongly now, so if you haven't heard any Porcupine Tree, Steve, you need to...

Big up to SteveO for the recommendation.
