anyways, Low-David Bowie
Bowie's glam period is pretty hit or miss for me. He could be pretty exciting, but pretty bland as well. This, though, this is where it's at. An incredibly exciting and wholly original album, this is why we remember Bowie as a genius

You hit the nail on the head, Crazy ! I call all the groups with seven or eight genres attached to them...simply ROCK as is the case with The Foo Fighters. Looks like another one to delve into ! I simply love their live at Wembley album... Skin and Bones but shunned them for awhile especially after their poor covers album this year - Medium Rare but this one - Wasting Light will redeem themselves !!!!

UNCUT MAGAZINE "songs of the south-various artists" 2010/11 cd ok, cant find a decent picture of the cover so i had to use my phone for this one.. this was a free cd that i got with uncut magazine at the beginning of the year....not a fan of compilation albums but when they come free with magazines, im up for it! its was a collection of tracks by new/emerging US artists from "the south", some southern rock, some country/folk, some country here also. i just find some of these cds that come with music magazines give access to bands that might not get on the radar otherwise, several very good songs on here from the Hank III sounding Hans Chew, to the Secret Sisters(with jack white) doing a brilliant version of john Cash's "big river" in a very Whits stripes way! Elizabeth Cook is another one i think i might have to check out properly at some time...lovely vocals, very traditional country. Rich Hopkins one is lengthy at nine minutes plus...but it builds up to an almost NY/CH type song I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: track #3 best track: tracks #12 and #15 1. reckless kelly "little blossom" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSLAKrrnNuk audio 2. cadillac sky "ballad of restored confidence" * 3. surfer blood "swim" * 4. caitlyn rose "things change" ** 5. drive-by truckers "this f##king job" ** 6. bloodkin "the viper" * 7. james apollo "no east,no west" ** 8. the black crowes "soul singing" *** 9. elizabeth cook "im beginning to forget" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NDd_NvpSck audio 10.dead confederate "giving it all away" *** 11.hans chew "i would there was a train" *** 12.secret sisters feat:jack white "big river" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QUF8yoxJaM audio 13.kurt wagner & courtney tidwell "eyes look away" ** 14.parting gifts "keep walking" ** 15.rich hopkins & luminarios "el otro lado suite" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EY3Hp61jR8 audio 3s=7 2s=5 1s=3 rating: 2.2

love compilations like these, when I can hear someone I haven't heard before only have heard 3 of these, Surfer Blood, Drive-By Truckers, Black Crowes.

...and at least they generally only put on their best tracks....
i had only heard of Black Crowes and Drive-by Truckers prior to owning this....both are reasonable bands IMO. i usually only get the "uncut" magazine when there is an interesting cd that accompanies it or a decent interview inside....probably three times a year max!

ive done both of these albums in the past in this thread....
Somewhere In England...rated very well, not a bad song on it IMO Extra Texture....probably my least favourite GH album, yet Corey swears by it...go figure!
