Imposters, Attractions, whatever, they sound the same to me. Elvis's 21st album, and yes, he does deliver. This is
the latest one I have. A concept album, which I rarely get, a story about the impact on three woman’s lives of a
man with a hidden past. I don't know, I just listen to it. Two standouts in Monkey To Man and There's A Story In
Your Voice with Lucinda Williams helping out. Can't believe there's no clip for that gem. My woman Emmylou Harris
is on 3 tracks here, none are great, and Heart Shaped Bruise is the best. Can barely hear her on two of those tracks.
Nothing bad on this album. Not a great one but certainly a good one. Elvis comes through again. Rocking out or
chilling out, he can do it all. This man could probably be in my top 10 of all time, and my collection is yet to be filled up.
This one made #40 in the US and #73 in the UK.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - The Name Of This Thing Is Not Love

Best Track - There's A Story In Your Voice

Once upon another time
If you had the need
I'd step right in the shoes that you've been walking
'Cos someone put the hurt in you
For every one to see
And you only have to speak to tell your fortune

There's a story in your voice
Both by damage and by choice
It tells of promises and pleasure
And a tale of wine and woe
The uneasy time to come
And the long way 'round we go to get there

Once you told me fairytales
Everybody knows
But I didn't care for their prediction
Now you say you're leaving me
And packing up your clothes
I finally see you were a work of fiction

There's a story in your walk
Then you crumble just like chalk
And I could say that I was sorry
But I wouldn't mean it much
There are pages I can't touch
And something that's been torn out of this chapter

Far away, not far enough
'Cos I can still recall
How it felt when I read that last sentence
Now I go inside some rooms with Gideon in them all
And hide myself from all hope of repentance

There's a story in your eyes
Cheap sunglasses might disguise
But when the bedroom light reveals
All that bravado and that fright
That you cover up in spite
Attempts to strip away this fabrication

There's a story in your voice
Both by damage and by choice
It tells of promises and pleasure
And a tale of wine and woe
The uneasy time to come
And the long way 'round we go to get there

Roxy's second album. Don't know of a bad one. In the glam period here with Eno's last appearance with the group.
Inside the fold pic of him is as glam as it gets. Ferry's delivery is superb throughout and the sax is the same.
Love three of the eight tracks, making it just hit the love mark. Do The Strand is my fav and was released as a
single, but only in the US at the time. The nine minute The Bogus Man takes some growing but the bass line will
finally sweep you away. In Every Dream Home A Heartache is just spooky. Nothing I don't like but the title track
seems the weakest for me. Roxy were a trend setter and opened a lot of doors for the avant-garde ideas in rock
music. This album barely cracked the charts here at a #193, but the still the trend setter in the UK saw it
different, pushing it to #4.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - For Your Pleasure

Best Track - Do The Strand

There's a new sensation
A fabulous creation
A danceable solution
To teenage revolution
Do the Strand love
When you feel love
It's the new way
That's why we say
Do the Strand
Do it on the tables
Quaglino's place or Mabel's
Slow and gentle
Sentimental

All styles served here
Louis Seize he prefer
Laissez-faire Le Strand
Tired of the tango
Fed up with fandango
Dance on moonbeams
Slide on rainbows
In furs or blue jeans
You know what I mean
Do the Strand

Had your fill of Quadrilles
The Madison and cheap thrills
Bored with the Beguine
The samba isn't your scene
They're playing our tune
By the pale moon
We're incognito

Down the Lido
And we like the Strand
Arabs at oasis
Eskimos and Chinese
If you feel blue
Look through Who's Who
See La Goulue
And Nijinsky
Do the Strandsky
Weary of the Waltz
And mashed potato schmaltz
Rhododendron

Is a nice flower
Evergreen
It lasts forever
But it can't beat Strand power
The Sphynx and Mona Lisa
Lolita and Guernica
Did the Strand

Rock has more or less been ruined for me, but an album like this makes me believe in it again. Johnathan Richman is a bloody genius

^^^ That is a classic Roxy album, the inovation in that one was really a turning point for them.......................I like that album a lot
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

THE KAISER CHIEFS "employment" cd,2005.

these guys debut album and the only one i have by them, i should invest in a couple of others simply because i love this one.
album hit #2 in the UK,top twenty here inAustralia but only got to #86 in the States.
foru UK top 10 hits also in tracks 1,2,3,6...
i can best describe the band as being a cross between The Jam,Madness,Blur and early Artic Monkeys for style and swagger.
the vocalist, at times has an accentuated pronounciation(wow! i just used two big words!) quality that i can only describe as similar to that of an early 1970s Bryan Ferry,
but with a rougher edge.
have no idea about the rest of their studio catalogue, so if anyone can recommend any other albums by these guys it would be appreciated.
