How did he attract a million fans to concerts but is almost unknown to present US audiences?

One problem he faces is that the spectacle of his live shows tends to grab the headlines, and I think more people are drawn to the spectacle than the music. The album above contains excerpts from audience interviews and media coverage which clearly demonstrate that many people attending clearly have no idea who they're watching.
I think he's clearly past his best these days, but back in the day he certainly played a small part in popularising "synthetic" music. |
